USA beats Germany 10-0 and will play for 5th place

It only took the Americans three and a half minutes to strike; it was Cameron Lund who wrapped around the net and scored. The USA was the dominant team for the majority of the first period; however, they could not add another goal until the last two minutes of the period when Zam Plante showed brilliant individual work and beat the whole German defence.

The Stars and Stripes started the second period as deadly as the first as just three minutes after the face-off, Plante prepared a fantastic scoring opportunity for Jake Livanavage. Four minutes later, Lund was at the end of a one-touch combination and got his second of the game. And the young Green Bay Gambler completed a hat-trick just 72 seconds later, a fast snipe from the right side marked the third goal for Lund.

But the Brigwater, Minnesota native, who committed to the Northeastern University, did not stop there. Just 119 seconds after the last period started, Lund scored for the fourth time, again from the right-hand side. In the second half of the period, the Americans were able to beat the Germans twice in only 18 seconds. First, it was Gavin Hayes who capitalized from a chaotic situation in the goal crease, and then Livanavage sniped just in the top-right corner of Felix Noack´s net. And before the game ended, the USA added another two strikes thanks to the effort of Jimmy Clark in front of the net and Vinny Borgesi´s beautiful snipe almost from the goal line. The United States therefore demolished Germany 10-0, and will play for fifth place against either the Czech Republic (if they cannot beat Russia) or Finland (if the Czechs beat Russia).
