Following wins on the second day of the tournament, Canada and Sweden are closest to making the semi-finals, while home team Czechia will have to have a strong game against the Maple Leafs tomorrow if they want to battle for medals this year.
Switzerland 1:9 Canada (0:0, 0:1, 1:8)
In the afternoon matchup in Czechia, Canada faced off against Switzerland. The Alpine nation kept pace for a while, but eventually ran out of steam and lost by a very hefty eight goals, with nine goals in total being scored in the final frame.
Sweden 5:3 USA (0:2, 2:1, 3:0)
Sweden took on the USA in a thrilling clash. The North Americans had a strong start, but the Scandinavian side came from behind in the third period to win 5:3, scoring three goals in three minutes and are one foot in the semi-finals already.
Czechia 4:1 Finland (0:0, 2:0, 2:1)
Nearly 2,000 fans turned up to support the Czechs against Finland in their crucial game of the tournament. Czechia failed to convert its own opportunities, while visitors Finland were strong on the powerplay. The result leaves Czechia desperate to beat Canada in their final group stage game.
Slovakia 1:0 Germany (0:0, 0:0, 1:0)
It was a must-win game against Germany for the Slovaks. The tense clash looked destined for overtime, until Matěj Stankoven scored a lucky goal just over a minute before the end, giving Slovakia their first win of the tournament.
