Number five of the Finnish defence is the leader in its very sense. Otto Salin’s ice time is always over twenty minutes, but he even added productivity and skills.
The seventeen-year-old talent of IFK Helsinki shows his strength and speed on defence. Moreover, Otto Salin offers a lot of support to the Finnish offence with four points in three games.
What did he say after Finland´s 8-1 win against Switzerland? And why does he feel that Finland could fight for the gold medal?
Are you satisfied with your team´s play in the tournament?
We could have played better in yesterday’s game against the Czechs. Otherwise, we played well.
At first sight, you work as one team and have good cooperation on the ice. What is the cause of it?
Everybody is friends with everyone. We have good chemistry, speak a lot to each other. And we are trying to play hard and have fun.
You spent a lot of time on the ice, you played almost 25 minutes against Switzerland. Does that make you more confident?
Yeah, of course. I feel that the coach trusts me and all I want to do is to help the team and show the best performance that I can.
There was a goalie switch in today’s game. Was it somehow different for you as a defender?
It changed nothing, I believe in all of our goalies.
You are quite productive, today you scored a PPG and an assist. Do you have some special training for shooting or technical skills?
I am working on it just after training. I usually take some pucks and work on the accuracy and strength of my shot. I also practice different kinds of skills on the ice.
Do you plan to watch the evening’s game of the Czechs against the Russians?
I do not know yet, but we all hope that we will advance to the semifinal.
