This year´s edition of Hlinka Gretzky Cup will take place solely in Red Deer, AB. Interestingly, only three days after the tournament´s final game, the 2022 World Juniors will start just a few miles away in Edmonton. According to the agreement between Český hokej and Hockey Canada, the tournament took place in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in odd years (2017, 2019, 2021); in 2018, the tournament was hosted by Canada (the 2020 edition was cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns).
